  • Marshalling and overseeing of the safe general flow of spectators.
  • Provision of event information, including safety and security information to spectators.
  • Provision of ushering services.
  • Provision of assistance with emergency evacuation procedures to persons within a stadium or venue and its precincts.

Uniforms

Ushers are uniformed in black. Each usher wears a reflector jacket (black with white reflective stripes). Ushers are also given a LED torch to assist in performing their duties

Communication Channels

The senior manager, managers and supervisors use two-way radios to communicate during the event. The use of the radios are helpful in sharing information on issues that may arise and ensuring that each supervisor’s designated area is well managed. Each supervisor provides periodic updates on his/her designated area to the manager. If needed the supervisor escalates issues for manager intervention.

Communication with Patrons

Ushers are selected on their communication ability and interpersonal skills (among others). Ushers are required to be polite and professional in their communication with patrons at all times. Patrons are engaged with in order to direct them to their correct area of the stadium (at ramps) or to their correct seats. If during the performance of ushering duties, patrons are unwilling to be seated in the correct seat, ushers escalate the issue to the usher supervisor to intervene.

Loading of the seating areas

Each usher is familiarised with the layout of the event. Ushers are given designated areas (ramps or seating blocks) and have to remain at their designated areas for the duration of the event. Ushers at the ramps direct patrons to the correct seating area (according to their admission ticket), while ushers designated at the seats are responsible for directing patrons to the seat number (printed on the ticket). Ushers have LED torches to assist in reading tickets and navigating through crowds in dim lighting, and to assist patrons in navigating through crowds.

We are commied to helping you make a success of your event through customised and dedicated service.
